The Oxen Park Cinema Club (OPCC) is a small charity that aims to bring the enjoyment of film to the rural communities of Colton and surrounding parishes. We began in early 2002 and are run through a committee of local residents who meet at least once a month.
We are a mobile community film society showing films in local village halls and our unique purpose built community cinema 'The Carthouse'. We have a film making unit which makes films about local people and places and runs film making workshops.
We are a member of the British Federation of Film Societies.
Oxen Park is a hamlet which lies on the watershed between Rusland and Colton Beck valleys in South Lakeland, Cumbria (see map) . It is a sociable community and the local pub, The Manor House, is a focal point for village get-togethers. However, when it comes to films, a journey to Ulverston, Ambleside or Bowness is necessary to visit a cinema, so the idea of a cinema club and the possibility of housing a small community cinema in a village barn was met with enthusiasm amongst the keen film-goers in the area.

It costs the club around £120 to show each film (license and premises).
